The University of Minnesota is teaming up with the city of Brooklyn Park through a partnership with the Resilient Communities Project.

Each year, the university chooses a city or county partner, helps identify potential projects based on needs, and then matches those needs with U of M courses and graduate and professional students. Students earn credit for working on projects.

Starting this spring, staff members from the program and the city of Brooklyn Park will start matching projects with courses that will be offered at the university in the fall of 2016 and spring of 2017.

Proposed projects included creating a more accessible financial reporting process, addressing misconceptions of the city, evaluating college readiness centers in local high schools, finding ways to support immigrant entrepreneurs, evaluating the city’s foreclosure recovery program, enhancing pedestrian safety and more.

The University of Minnesota has previously partnered with Minnetonka and North St. Paul.
