Star Tribune: U will partner with Rosemount for special projects

By Meghan Holden, Star Tribune, March 29, 2014

The University of Minnesota is teaming up with Rosemount in hopes of creating a more sustainable community.

Through the U's Resilient Communities Project, students will work with Rosemount on citywide projects such as creating affordable housing and green business parks and increasing services for new immigrants. The yearlong union will begin at the start of the 2014-15 school year.

The city partnership program is relatively new: It began two years ago when the U teamed up with Minnetonka for more than a dozen community projects. This year, 17 projects were completed in North St. Paul.

Rosemount is asking for the U's help in completing 40 tasks, but the specific projects haven't been decided yet.
